Fertilization
Arbor Master has several bio-based fertilizer options to address all of the nutrient needs of trees in the North Iowa area. We use specific formulas to address individual problems specific to different tree species. Many naturalists will say that Iowa soils are fertile and don't need fertilizer to grow healthy trees. However, land that has been built upon may have compacted dirt that was added from elsewhere or the ph level may not be right for the tree species to make use of the nutrients. Also, a tree that may not need additional nutrients may still benefit from them. For trees suffering from drought stress, pruning wounds and general environmental stresses, we recommend blend high in slow release nitrogen and mycorrhizae. Nitrogen gives the tree resources to grow bigger and greener while mycorrhizae are beneficial fungi that break down nutrients for easier uptake into the root system. We have low phosphate and phosphate free blends to use depending on the proximity of the property to natural water bodies. When fungal organisms may be attacking a tree and it's not near the water, we can use a high phosphate Plant Health Care(PHC) product fertilize with a bio-fungicidal benefit. Finally, both of our PHC products have added micronutrients iron and manganese to be used to fertilize and relieve chlorotic trees.
